Mandatory quarantine measure lifted in Cyprus on May 25, self isolation instead
As of May 25, the mandatory quarantine measure for travellers arriving to Cyprus is lifted and self isolation is advised instead. In a press release, on Saturday, the Transport Ministry says that all those passengers staying at hotels after their arrival will be transferred to their homes and will be urged to self isolate for the remaining period, depending on what measures apply for the country they have arrived from.
No new COVID-19 cases in Cyprus on Saturday for the first time in two and a half months
No new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Saturday in Cyprus, from a total of 2,414 tests, authorities announced. This is the first time after the first two coronavirus cases were confirmed on March 9th, in the government-controlled areas of the island, that there are no confirmed cases. Therefore, the total number of individuals that have been affected remains at 927.
Cyprus President praises citizens`, scientists` and health workers` contribution in recording no new COVID-19 cases
Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, has highlighted the citizens`, scientists` and health workers` contribution in combating COVID-19, as a result of which no new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Saturday. Following the announcement by the Health Ministry that no people tested positive to COVID-19 on Saturday, after 2,414 tests were carried out, Anastasiades said in a post on Twitter that “the conscientiousness shown by our citizens, the fight of scientists and frontline health workers (against the coronavirus) led today (yesterday) to zero COVID-19 cases in our country. I thank you. We have to carry on this way. To return to our normality with consistency”.

Motorbikes and cars confiscated by Police, five people arrested during patrol checks across Cyprus
A total of 27 motorbikes and four cars were confiscated by the Police on Friday and Saturday, and five people were arrested, Police Spokesperson Christos Andreou told the CNA. He said that the patrol checks began on Friday and that the main target is traffic violations. The police confiscated 16 motorbikes last week , he said. He pointed out that Police Chief had a videoconference yesterday with the Heads of Police Units in all districts and clear orders were given for targeted patrolling, regading speeding, motorbikes` modifications and noise pollution.
Forest Department issues red warning for forest fires because of strong winds
Cyprus` Forest Department issued a red warning for forest fires on Sunday, due to strong winds. An announcment says that lighting fire and throwing cigarette butts or lit matches in forest areas or 2 km away from the ridge of the forest hills is against the law. Violators face up to ten years in prison or a fine up to 50,000 euro or both or 5 years in prison and up to 20,000 euro fine, based on the legislation in place.
